John Morgan - Managing Director Cardplus Ltd.
From his experience in finance, banking, retail, franchise and marketing John has the experience to work with any organisation. John's business experience is from 18 years at Trust Bank as branch manager, lending manager and six years as marketing manager.
John then spent 17 years in retail, developing a business from two outlets to 14 franchised stores nationwide with turnover of $6.9m.
John has previously been president of the Sales & Marketing Executive Institute (SMEI), a Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce award judge. John has been a board member of the Retail Association, Shandon Golf Club and is currently a NZ Golf Council member and Wellington Golf Selector.
Charles Purcell - Director
Charles brings solid business and financial expertise to the Cardplus team. Charles has a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration (BCA) from Victoria University, is an Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP)
He joined KPMG Wellington as a partner in 1989 having been a partner since 1980 in predecessor firms of Grant Thornton and Ernst and Whinney. He was responsible for a portfolio of clients primarily in the owner managed and small/medium enterprise (SME) sectors of business.
He retired from KPMG in March 2004 and has set up his own company, Business Valuation and Forensic Accounting Limited. This business specializes in providing independent advice on business and/or shareholding values and also provides advice relating to business structures, shareholder agreements and sale and purchase arrangements.
Doug Gold - Director
Doug brings particular skills in the area of market innovation.
Doug, one of the founding directors of Cardplus Ltd, has had a long and illustrious radio career, spanning some thirty years, with twenty years being in management / ownership.
Doug started his radio career in New Zealand and managed a number of successful radio stations where he developed his unique and very successful sales approach, and an innovative and people-oriented management and sales philosophy. In New Zealand, he made a real impact on the industry. He was actively involved in industry matters and was one of the key figures among the independent broadcasters.
He was instrumental in setting up New Zealand's first network news service for independent radio stations, and was chairman of the Independent Broadcasters' Association. In 1991, Doug and equal business partner Craig Thompson, set up More FM in Wellington. The addition of further stations in the More FM group created New Zealand's most successful network.
In 1997, the network was sold to international media company, CanWest. More recently, in addition to his Cardplus commitments, Doug has founded New Revenue Solutions.
He has also consulted major radio networks in Germany, Austria, Sweden, Denmark and other European countries and is an internationally acclaimed and recognised broadcaster. He has won numerous broadcasting awards including an American award (International Broadcaster of the Year) two years in succession, New Zealand Broadcaster of the Year and was recently awarded the most prestigious award - Outstanding Contribution to Radio.
He has also written a successful book, "Fun is a Serious Business", detailing the business philosophy behind More FM's outstanding success story.
John McBeth
Well-respected television and radio broadcaster John McBeth has joined the team at Cardplus Ltd.
John's sports broadcasting career has spanned 35 years and has included several All Blacks tours, all the Rugby World Cups, five Olympic Games and four America's Cup campaigns.
He still remains the only New Zealand radio commentator to have described the All Blacks winning a rugby world cup!
As a consultant for Cardplus, John is available to assist our partners clients by acting as a guest speaker or master of ceremonies at your functions and is also writing sports related articles for a number of our Cardplus clients in their customer publications
